“WHEN GOD HAS HAD
ENOUGH”
SCRIPTURE READING:
ISAIAH 5:1-7
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
Genesis 6:3 (KJV) And the LORD said, “My
spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he
also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred
and twenty years.”
INTRO:
Have you ever tried to
build something or make something only to have it turn
out wrong?
-
A building project
-
A cooking or baking
project
-
A relationship
How did it make you
feel?
Try to consider God’s
side of this parable.
The Father is
speaking of the His Son, “My Well Beloved”, who had
planted a vineyard.
There are eight
things we need to note in this story:
-
The vineyard was
planted in a fruitful place.
-
A wall was built
for protection around it.
-
The stones had
been removed from it.
-
The choicest
vines were planted in it.
-
A tower was built
in the midst of it.
-
A winepress was
created in it.
-
God expected to
receive good fruit.
-
It brought forth
bad fruit.
How does this parable
in Isaiah relate to us as Christians today?
1 Corinthians 10:11-12
(NIV)
These things happened to
them as examples and were written down as warnings for
us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful
that you don't fall!
Matthew 21:33-41 (KJV)
Hear
another parable: There was a certain householder, which
planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and
digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it
out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: and when
the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to
the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of
it. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one,
and killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent
other servants more than the first: and they did unto
them likewise. But last of all he sent unto them his
son, saying, “They will reverence my son.” But when the
husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves,
“This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us
seize on his inheritance. And they caught him, and cast
him out of the vineyard, and slew him. When the lord
therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto
those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably
destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard
unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits
in their seasons.
God had blessed
Israel so she could become a fruitful nation, bring
glory and honor to Him, so God has blessed the Church so
she could bring forth proper fruit.
Let us compare what
God did for Israel in this parable and what He has done
for the Church.
1. THE VINEYARD WAS
PLANTED IN A FRUITFUL PLACE.
He removed the
children of Israel from the land of Egypt into the land of Canaan; he has removed the
church from the world into the Kingdom of
God.
God has place the
Children of Israel in land the flowed with milk and
honey.
The Church dwells in
the Kingdom of
God will all it resources
available for it use.
God’s own hand
planted the vineyard. He has a right to the fruits. We
must take care and do not rob Him.
2. A WALL WAS BUILT FOR
PROTECTION AROUND IT.
NOTE:
God gave to Israel the
Law and His Word to protect them from sin.
Psalms 125:2 (KJV)
As the
mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is
round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
Zechariah 2:5 (KJV)
For I,
saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round
about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
God has provided
protection from the enemy to every believer.
2 Corinthians 10:4
(KJV)
(For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strong holds;)
Romans 13:12 (KJV)
The
night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore
cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the
armour of light.
2 Corinthians 6:7 (KJV)
By the
word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of
righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)
Put on
the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
3. THE STONES HAD BEEN
REMOVED FROM IT.
NOTE:
God had provided a way
for Israel to remove all the inhabitance of the Land of Canaan but Israel failed to
do so.
God has removed the
stones of sin, and the rocks of false teaching and
beliefs.
God has provided a
way for the Church to be victorious over sin through the
power of the Holy Ghost.
4.
THE CHOICEST VINES WERE PLANTED IN IT.
Deuteronomy 7:6-8 (KJV)
For thou
art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy
God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto
himself, above all people that are upon the face of the
earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor
choose you, because ye were more in number than any
people; for ye were the fewest of all people: but
because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep
the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the
LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed
you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of
Pharaoh king of Egypt.
NOTE:
Israel was a chosen
people called out by God to be separated unto Him.
John 3:16 (KJV)
For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.
John 15:1-5 (KJV)
I am
the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every
branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and
every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it
may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the
word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I
in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye
abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He
that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth
forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
5.
A TOWER WAS BUILT IN THE MIDST OF IT.
NOTE:
The towers were built to
provide a place to watch for those who would come and do
harm to the vineyard.
For Israel, God sent
His prophets to warn and guide His people.
Today God has given
us His ministers and the Church to watch over His
children.
6. A WINEPRESS WAS
CREATED IN IT.
This is where the
crushing of the grapes would produce the desired
results.
God allows us to go
through crushing experiences to bring forth the
sweetness of His wine in our lives that others may taste
of His goodness and desire to know Him.
7. GOD EXPECTED TO
RECEIVE GOOD FRUIT.
God has provided
everything we need in order that the Fruit of the Spirit
might be produced in our lives.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness,
temperance: against such there is no law.
8. IT BROUGHT FORTH BAD
FRUIT.
Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV)
Now
the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations,
wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I
tell you before, as I have also told you in time past,
that they which do such things shall not inherit the
kingdom of God.
WHEN GOD HAS HAD
ENOUGH.
Isaiah 5:3-7 (KJV) And
now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah,
judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. What
could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have
not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should
bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? And
now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my
vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it
shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and
it shall be trodden down: and I will lay it waste: it
shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up
briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that
they rain no rain upon it. For the vineyard of the LORD
of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah
his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but
behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
GOD IS THE GOD OF A
SECOND CHANCE.
Luke 13:6-9 (KJV) 13:6
He spake also
this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in
his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and
found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his
vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit
on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why
cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him,
Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig
about it, and dung it: and if it bear fruit, well: and
if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
CONCLUSION:
God expects our lives to
produce good fruit.

“THE FOUR C’S OF A
SUCCESSFUL PRAY LIFE”
SCRIPTURE
READING: LUKE 11:1-13; 18:1-14
SCRIPTURE TEXT: LUKE
11:1
Luke 11:1
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a
certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said
unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught
his disciples.
INTRO:
Jesus’ disciples had a
desire to know how to pray.
Do we have that same
desire?
It is prayer that
opens to us all the power and resources of heaven yet
too often we are content to struggle along using our own
strength and resources.
One of the reasons we
fail to pray, as we ought is that too often our prayers
are not answered.
The reason our
prayers are often let unanswered is because we do not
know how to pray.
There are four
important aspects of having a successful prayer life.
-
CONFESSION
-
CONFIDENCE
-
CLEANLINESS
-
CONTINUALLY
-
I. WE MUST
CONFESS AS WE PRAY
v
Of
God’s greatness
DEUTERONOMY 3:24
O Lord
GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness,
and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or
in earth, that can do according to thy works, and
according to thy might?
PSALMS 145:3
Great is
the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness
is unsearchable.
JEREMIAH 32:18-19
Thou
shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest
the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their
children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD
of hosts,
is
his name, Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for
thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of
men: to give every one according to his ways, and
according to the fruit of his doings:
NOTE:
Who He is
v
Of
God’s ability
JOB 42:2 I know that thou canst do
every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from
thee.
JEREMIAH 32:27
Behold, I am the
LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard
for me?
MATTHEW 19:26
But Jesus
beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is
impossible; but with God all things are possible.
LUKE 1:37
For with
God nothing shall be impossible.
NOTE:
The unlimited power &
resources of God are at our disposal.
v
Our own
inabilities
v
Our
sins
v
Our
need
v
Our
surrender
“God does not need our solutions,
He needs our submission,
God does not need our answers,
He needs our availability.”
II. WE MUST PRAY WITH
CONFIDENCE.
Hebrews 4:14-16
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is
passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us
hold fast our profession. For we have not an high
priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we
are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto
the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find
grace to help in time of need.
LUKE 11:13
If ye then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy
Spirit to them that ask him?
HEBREWS 11:6
But without faith it
is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him.
1 John 5:14-15
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that,
if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth
us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we desired of
him.
III.
WE MUST PRAY WITH CLEANLINESS OF HEART.
PSALMS 139:23-24
Search
me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my
thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and
lead me in the way everlasting.
NOTE:
We must ask God to
search out our hearts because we do not know our own
heart.
JEREMIAH 17:9-10
The heart
is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:
who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the
reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and
according to the fruit of his doings.
We must ask God for
forgiveness of our sins.
LUKE 11:4
And forgive us our sins;
for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from
evil.
NOTE:
Nothing will keep our prayers from being answered more
than sin.
PSALM 66:18
If I regard iniquity
in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
ISAIAH 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD'S hand
is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear
heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and
your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that
he will not hear.
JOHN 9:31
Now we know that God
heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of
God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
IV. WE MUST PRAY
CONTINUALLY
NOTE:
Too often we give up
just before God answers our prayers.
Daniel prayer for 21
days before he receive his answer.
DANIEL 10:12-14
Then said
he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day
that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to
chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard,
and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the
kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but,
lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me;
and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am
come to make thee understand what shall befall thy
people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for
many days.
LUKE 11:5-13
And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a
friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto
him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine
in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set
before him? And he from within shall answer and say,
Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children
are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. I say
unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because
he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will
rise and give him as many as he needeth. And I say unto
you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every
one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son
shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he
give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a
fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg,
will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much
more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to
them that ask him?
NOTE:
Our heart and life
should be in continual prayer before God.
LUKE 18:1-8
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that
men ought always to pray, and not to faint; saying,
“There was in a city a judge, which feared not God,
neither regarded man: and there was a widow in that
city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine
adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward
he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor
regard man; yet because this widow troubleth me,
I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she
weary me.” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust
judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect,
which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long
with them? I tell you that he will avenge them
speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall
he find faith on the earth?”
CONCLUSION:
There are many things
that many of cannot do but we all can pray and prayer is
the greatest weapon of defense and offence we as
Christian have.

“THE EFFECTS OF
SEEING GOD”
SCRIPTURE READING:
ISAIAH 6:1-8
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
Isaiah 6:1 (KJV)
In the year that king
Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
INTRO:
Have you ever seen the Grand Canyon in person?
Seeing God in a
personal way has a tremendous effect.
We may not be able to
see God with our physical eyes but we can catch a
glimpse of Him through our spiritual eyes.
John 3:3 (KJV)
Jesus
answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God.”
The Greek word see
means; to know be aware, consider, have knowledge,
perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand.
We cannot begin to
understand God or the things of God until we have been
born again, accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Romans 8:5 (KJV)
For they
that are after the flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of
the Spirit.
When we are taking
about God, we are talking about the Triune God; Father,
Son and Holy Ghost.
When we begin to
catch a glimpse of God it will affect us in three
different ways:
-
It will effect
how we view God.
-
It will effect
how we view ourselves.
-
It will effect
how we view our service to God.
I. HOW WE SEE GOD.
NOTE:
Most people, including
Christians, have a distorted view of God.
Our view of God will
determine our relationship with God.
-
Of Who He is (His
person).
-
Of His powers,
His authority, and His abilities.
-
Of His character
The more we see,
understand, God the greater our awe will be of Him.
A. THE ATTRIBUTES OF
GOD.
NOTE:
The attributes of God
are what makes Him God. The absence of anyone of these
attributes will mean that God is not God.
If we fail to see any
of these attributes as attributes of God, our concept of
God will be adversely affected.
It will affect how we
worship Him, how we believe in Him and how we will serve
Him.
Some of God’s
attributes are found in His character while others are
seen through His abilities.
1.
Attributes
dealing with God’s Person.
·
Immensity.
NOTE:
This is different from
omnipresence. It means that God’s center is
everywhere.
It means that not
only is He everywhere, He fills everything, everywhere.
His center is
everywhere, His circumference nowhere.
2 Chronicles 6:18 (KJV)
But will
God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? Behold,
heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee;
how much less this house which I have built!
·
Eternal
NOTE:
This means have neither
beginning or end.
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
In the beginning God created the heaven
and the earth.
Deuteronomy 33:27 (KJV)
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the
everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from
before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
Psalm 90:2 (KJV)
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou
hadst formed the earth and the world, even from
everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Psalm 102:12 (KJV)
But thou, O Lord, shalt endure for ever; and thy
remembrance unto all generations.
Psalm 102:24-27 (KJV)
I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my
days: thy years are throughout all generations. Of old
hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the
heavens are the work of thy hands, they shall perish,
but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old
like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and
they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy
years shall have no end.
1 Tim. 1:17 (KJV)
Now unto
the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise
God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:8 (KJV)
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,
saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to
come, the Almighty.
NOTE:
This also means there is
concept of time with God.
Exodus 3:14 (KJV)
And
God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus
shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath
sent me unto you.
Psalm 90:4 (KJV)
For a thousand years in thy sight are but as
yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
2 Peter 3:8 (KJV)
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that
one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as one day.
·
Immutability.
NOTE:
God in unchangeable.
Psalm 102:27 (KJV)
But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no
end.
Malachi 3:6 (KJV)
For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of
Jacob are not consumed.
Hebrews 1:12 (KJV)
And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they
shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years
shall not fail.
Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for
ever.
James 1:17 (KJV)
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is
no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
·
Self-sufficiency.
NOTE:
God is independent of
everything and everyone else.
We are all dependent
on others and especially on God.
God exist within
Himself.
If there were not
heaven or earth, God would still be God.
Psalm 50:12 (KJV)
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the
world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
God does not need us,
but we need Him.
CONCLUSION:
As our view of God grows it will affect us in every
aspect of our daily lives.
In our attitude
towards God Himself, towards ourselves and towards our
service to Him.

“HAVING NO DOUBTS”
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
Romans 4:21
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised,
he was able also to perform.
INTRO: Many
people go through life filled with uncertainty.
Constantly fighting fear, doubt and the anguish of not
having the confidence of knowing the certainty of God’s
love & peace.
There are
many things in life and this world that we cannot be
sure of.
v
The
stock market
v
The
weather
v
The
promises of politicians
There are other things we think we are sure of but we
find out that we were wrong.
v
The
winning numbers of the Lottery
v
Who
will win tomorrows game
v
The
loan will go through
v
Promises will be kept
It has
been said that there are only two things we can be sure
of, death and taxes.
When we have no doubts we are confident and when we are
confident we have peace, peace of heart and peace of
mind.
As a Christian our confidence does not lie in ourselves
but rather comes when we are fully persuaded in the
promises of God.
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is
stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
If we have doubts we
will lose our peace and live in doubt and fear.
James 1:6-8
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he
that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the
wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he
shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded
man is unstable in all his ways.
Those who add but’s to God’s promises are not fully
persuaded and they continually live in defeat.
I want you to know that there are several things that
you can be fully persuaded of, I will only mention a few
tonight.
I.
HAVING NO DOUBTS WHO JESUS IS.
A. THAT
HE IS THE SON OF GOD.
NOTE: Twice
God Himself acknowledged Jesus as His Son.
Luke 3:22
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a
dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said,
Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Matthew 17:5
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud
overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud,
which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased; hear ye him.
B. THAT
HE IS THE ONLY SAVIOR.
NOTE:
How sad it will be for those, who thought that they
didn’t need a savior, or that their good works would
save them, when they find out how wrong they were.
JOHN 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
ACTS 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is
none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved.
C. THAT HE IS BOTH LORD AND SAVIOR.
NOTE: We can
have the confidence that not only can Jesus save us, but
that He can also direct our lives.
What peace we have when we are fully persuaded that God
is in control and that He will take care of everything.
Acts 2:36
Therefore let
all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath
made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord
and Christ.
Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given
him a name which is above every name: that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and
things in earth, and things under the earth; and that
every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
II.
HAVING NO DOUBTS THAT GOD LOVES US.
NOTE: Often
times this is the most difficult part of becoming a
Christian or even being a Christian.
Satan seeks to put in our minds all sorts of reasons why
God does not truly love us.
v
We’re
not good enough
v
God is
a God of judgment and wrath
v
We’re
too sinful
Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved
thee with an everlasting love: therefore with
lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
JOHN 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his
Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved.
Romans 5:8
But God
commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, who
is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved
us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
1 John 3:1-2
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed
upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:
therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him
not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth
not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when
he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see
him as he is.
III. HAVING NO DOUBTS THAT GOD IS ABLE TO KEEP US.
JOHN 10:27-30
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they
follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they
shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out
of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater
than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my
Father's hand.
30I
and my Father are one.
Romans 8:34-39
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died,
yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the
right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For
thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these
things we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor
life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor
depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
ii Timothy 1:12
For the which cause I also suffer these things:
nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have
believed, and am persuaded that he is able to
keep that which I have committed unto him against that
day.
IV. HAVING NO DOUBTS THAT JESUS WILL RETURN.
JOHN 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God,
believe also in me. In my Father's house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
ACTS 1:9-11
And when he had spoken these things, while they
beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of
their sight.
And
while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went
up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing
up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from
you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have
seen him go into heaven.
HEBREWS 9:28
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;
and unto them that look for him shall he appear the
second time without sin unto salvation.

“THE BLESSINGS OF
KNOWING GOD”
SCRIPTURE READING:
ISAIAH 6:1-8
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
Philippians 3:10 (HCSB)
[My goal] is to know Him and the power of His
resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being
conformed to His death,
INTRO:
Knowledge has great
power and benefits.
ILL:
Knowing Where to Hit with the Hammer.
The more a person
knows about something the more confidence they have in
using it.
Most Christians today
have a very shallow knowledge of God.
The more we
understand about God the closer our relationship will
be.
Mere knowledge and
understanding of will not keep us from times of doubt
and fear but will in the long run sustain us and bring
us to victory.
The more we know and
study about God, the more faith we will have in Him.
The more we know and
understand God the greater our FEAR (reverence) will be
for Him.
Jeremiah 5:21-22 (NLT)
Listen, you foolish and senseless people—who have eyes
but do not see, who have ears but do not hear. Do you
have no respect for me? Why do you not tremble in my
presence? I, the LORD, am the one who defines the
ocean's sandy shoreline, an everlasting boundary that
the waters cannot cross. The waves may toss and roar,
but they can never pass the bounds I set.
Attributes of God’s
person (Who He is)
·
Immensity.
(God is centered everywhere)
·
Eternal.
(God has neither beginning or end)
·
Immutability.
(God does not change)
·
Self-sufficiency. (God is sufficient in Himself)
I. THE ATTRIBUTES OF
GOD’S ABILITIES.
NOTE:
These attributes reveal
to us, God’s power and authority and His ability to meet
any need we might have.
If we fail to see God
possessing these attributes our prayers will be laced
with doubt and unbelief.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he
is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
The key to knowing
and understanding more about God is, “Do we believe the
Bible to be the Word of God?”
A.
OMNIPOTENCE (All Powerful)
Revelation 19:6 (KJV)
And I
heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as
the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty
thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God
omnipotent reigneth.
NOTE:
When we have faith in
God’s power, we have the assurance that we can face no
circumstance that He cannot control.
1 Chronicles 29:11-12
(KJV)
Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the
glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is
in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the
kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above
all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou
reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might;
and in thine hand it
is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
2 Chronicles 14:11 (KJV)
And Asa
cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is
nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with
them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we
rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this
multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail
against thee.
Job 42:2 (KJV)
I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no
thought can be withholden from thee.
Isaiah 64:4 (KJV)
For since the
beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived
by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside
thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for
him.
Jeremiah 32:27 (KJV)
Behold, I
am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing
too hard for me?
1.
Power to
create.

In the beginning
God created the heaven and the earth.
Isaiah 48:13 (KJV)
Mine hand
also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right
hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them,
they stand up together.
Jeremiah 27:5 (KJV)
I have
made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the
ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm,
and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
Amos 5:8 (KJV)
Seek him that
maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow
of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with
night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and
poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is
his name:
Revelation 4:11 (KJV)
Thou art
worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:
for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure
they are and were created.
2.
Power over
nature.
Job 38:8 (KJV)
Or who shut up
the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had
issued out of the womb?
Psalm 89:8-9 (KJV)
O Lord God
of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy
faithfulness round about thee? [9] Thou rulest the
raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou
stillest them.
Mark 4:41 (KJV)
And they feared
exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man
is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
3.
Power over
life and death.
Deuteronomy 32:39 (KJV)
See now
that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I
kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is
there any that can deliver out of my hand.
Genesis 18:14 (KJV)
Is any
thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I
will return unto thee, according to the time of life,
and Sarah shall have a son.
Isaiah 25:8 (KJV)
He will swallow
up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away
tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people
shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord
hath spoken it.
Hosea 13:14 (GW)
“I want to
free them from the power of the grave. I want to reclaim
them from death. Death, I want to be a plague to you.
Grave, I want to destroy you. I won't even think of
changing my plans.”
4.
Power over
disease.
Psalm 103:3 (KJV)
Who forgiveth all
thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
And said,
If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord
thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight,
and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his
statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee,
which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the
Lord that healeth thee.
5.
Power over
governments.
2 Chronicles 20:6 (KJV)
And said,
O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven?
and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the
heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might,
so that none is able to withstand thee?
Psalm 75:6-7 (KJV)

promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the

putteth down one, and setteth up another.

And he changeth
the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and
setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and
knowledge to them that know understanding:
Daniel 4:17 (KJV)
This matter is by
the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word
of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know
that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and
giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it
the basest of men.
