SCRIPTURE TEXT: PSALMS
16:11
(KJV)
Thou wilt shew me
the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of
joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for
evermore.
INTRO:
Do
you ever get tired of the struggles you face in your
physical life?
-
Sickness
-
Disappointments
-
Broken
promises
-
Financial
problems
-
Family
problems
-
Employment
problems
Many
people seek to find rest from this sort of things
through many different ways:
-
Drugs
-
Alcohol
-
Sex
-
Entertainment
-
Recreation
All
of these only offer a short term satisfaction.
Have
you ever sought rest from the spiritual struggles
you face?
-
Sin
-
Temptation
-
Guilt
-
Unbelief &
doubts
-
Lack of
commitment
-
Apathy
Each
of us has struggled with one or more of these during
our Christian walk.
Where
can we find rest from the physical and spiritual
battles we face every day?
The
answer is found in the PROMISES OF GOD.
Today
we want to look at just one promise of God that will
provide rest for our weary souls.
THE
PROMISE OF REST IN GOD’S PRESENCE:
NOTE:
The place of perfect rest is found in
the presence of God.
GENESIS 2:2-3 (KJV)
And
on the seventh day God ended his work which he had
made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his
work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh
day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had
rested from all his work which God created and made.
When God is at rest all those who are
in His presence must be at rest also.
NOTE:
When Adam and Eve dwelt in the Garden
of Eden, they were in a place of perfect rest.
I.
APART FROM GOD WE CANNOT BE AT REST.
NOTE: The greatest un-rest is found when we are outside the
presence of God.
A. SIN WILL TAKE US OUT OF GOD’S PRESENCE.
ISAIAH 59:1-2 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Indeed, the Lord’s hand is not too short to save,
and His ear is not too deaf to hear. But your
iniquities have built barriers between you and your
God, and your sins have made Him hide [His] face
from you so that He does not listen.
-
Disobedience
will drive us from the presence of God.
-
Doing what
God tells us not to do will remove us from
the presence of God.
NOTE: When Adam and Eve disobeyed, they fled from the presence
of God.
GENESIS 3:8 (KJV)
3:8
And
they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the
garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God
amongst the trees of the garden.
Because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience they were
forced to leave the Garden of Eden and the presence
of God.
GENESIS 3:24 (KJV)
So
he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of
the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword
which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree
of life.
-
Failing
to do what God tells us to do will remove us
from the presence of God.
JONAH
1:3
(KJV)
But
Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the
presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he
found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare
thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto
Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
-
Hatred for
our brothers removes us from the presence of
God.
NOTE:
When
Cain sinned by killing his brother Abel, he was also
driven from the presence of God.
GENESIS 4:16 (KJV)
4:16
And
Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and
dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
NOTE:
We are all sinners therefore we are
outside the presence of God.
II.
JESUS PROVIDED US WITH A WAY TO ENTER INTO THE
PRESENCE OF GOD.
HEBREWS 10:19-22 (GW)
Brothers and sisters, because of the blood of Jesus
we can now confidently go into the holy place.
Jesus has opened a new and living way for us to go
through the curtain. (The curtain is his own body.)
We have a superior priest in charge of God's house.
We have been sprinkled {with his blood} to free us
from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been
washed with clean water. So we must continue to come
{to him} with a sincere heart and strong faith.
NOTE:
Our perfect rest is found when we
come to Jesus and accept His atoning work at
Calvary.
MATTHEW 11:28 (KJV)
Come
unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and
I will give you rest.
It is only though Jesus Christ that
we can receive the forgiveness of sin and be
restored to the presence of God.
1
JOHN 1:9 (KJV)
If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
God has already taken the first step in bring us
back into His presence by the work preformed at
Calvary. Now it is up to us.
JAMES 4:8 (KJV)
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw
nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and
purify your hearts, ye double minded.
If
we will open our hearts to God He will come in and
once again we can dwell in the presence of God and
find perfect rest and peace.
REVELATION 3:20 (KJV)
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man
hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to
him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
III.
THE PROMISE OF HIS
CONTINUAL PRESENCE.
EXODUS 33:14
And
he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will
give thee rest.
-
IN TIMES OF
TROUBLE
NOTE:
On of the greatest robbers of rest in
the midst of turmoil is the feeling of being all
alone.
PSALM
142:4
I looked on my right hand,
and beheld, but there was no man that would know me:
refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
ISAIAH
43:2
When
thou passest through the waters, I will be with
thee; and through the rivers, they shall not
overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire,
thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame
kindle upon thee.
-
WHEN WE FEEL
OVERWHELMED.
NOTE:
When we feel pressured from every
side and it seems that we are being crushed under
the load.
DEUTERONOMY 20:1
When
thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and
seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than
thou, be not afraid of them: for the Lord thy God is
with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of
Egypt.
PSALM
103:13-14
Like
as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord
pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our
frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
-
IN TIMES OF
FAILURE.
NOTE:
There are times in our lives when
each one of us fail God and fail Him miserably.
PSALM
51:3-4
For I acknowledge my
transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done
this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be
justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou
judgest.
During these times we often feel that
because of our sin and failure that even God
abandons us.
ROMANS 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor
things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other
creature, shall be able to separate us from the love
of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
PSALM
130:3-4
If thou, Lord, shouldest
mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there
is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be
feared.
1
JOHN 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
CONCLUSION:
We can find the perfect resting place
in the promise of God’s presence no matter where we
are or what is happening in our lives.
HEBREWS 13:5
Let
your conversation be without covetousness; and be
content with such things as ye have: for he hath
said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
MATTHEW 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I
have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway,
even unto the end of the world. Amen.

“ABIGAIL,
A WOMAN OF VISION AND COURAGE”
SCRIPTURE READING: I SAMUEL
25:23-31
SCRIPTURE TEXT: PROVERBS 31:30 (KJV)
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman
that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
INTRO:
How does our world judge a woman of worth?
Young
A
beautiful face
A
fine figure
How does God judge a woman?
The
condition of the heart
1
SAMUEL 16:7 (KJV)
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his
countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not
as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward
appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
We can do much to change our outward appearance but
only God can change our hearts.
A
woman can have dazzling beauty, a perfect figure,
wonderful charm and even great intelligence but if
their heart is corrupt they are not worthy of man’s
consideration.
In this 25 chapter of I Samuel I can see a wonderful
story showing a typology of Christ and His Church.
Nabal a type of the world
Saul
and type of Satan
Abigail a type of the Church
David a type of Christ.
I.
NABAL A TYPE OF THE WORLD.
NOTE:
The word nabal
signifies to be foolish, base, or villanous; and
hence the Latin word nebulo, knave, is
supposed to be derived.
He was known as a churlish man.
1
SAMUEL 25:3 (KJV)
Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of
his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good
understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but
the man was
churlish and evil in his
doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.
Churlish in Hebrew comes from the word
kaw-sheh';
Hebrew (qashah); severe (in various
applications):- churlish, cruel, grievous, hard
([-hearted], thing), heavy, + impudent, obstinate,
prevailed, rough (-ly), sore, sorrowful, stiff
([-necked]), stubborn, + in trouble.
-Strongs
Of the house of Caleb—vehu
Chalibbi, "he was a Calebite." But as the word
caleb signifies a dog, the Septuagint have
understood it as implying a man of a canine
disposition, and translate it thus, he was a doggish
man.
—Adam Clarke's Commentary
Many versions consider Caleb ("dog") not as a
proper, but a common noun, and render it, "he was
snappish as a dog."
—Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary
He was a follower of Saul.
1
SAMUEL 25:10 (KJV)
And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who
is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many
servants now a days that break away every man from
his master.
He failed to see David as the one who protected him
and all that he had.
Abigail saw him as a fool and a follower of Satan.
1
SAMUEL 25:25 (KJV) Let not my lord, I pray thee,
regard this man of
Belial, even Nabal: for as
his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly
is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young
men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
II.
SAUL A TYPE OF SATAN.
NOTE:
Saul knew that he was going to lose his kingdom to
David and he did everything within his power to stop
David.
Satan knows he is going to lose everything to Christ
and he is doing everything within his power to stop
Christ from taking his kingdom from him.
III.
DAVID IS A TYPE OF CHRIST.
NOTE:
David was waiting until God’s timing to become king
of Israel.
His followers recognized him as king but those who
followed Saul, like Nabal, refused to recognize his
royalty.
David was coming to bring judgment and death to
Nabal.
Jesus is waiting until His Father tells Him it is
time to come and received His Kingdom.
MARK
13:32 (KJV)
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no,
not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son,
but the Father.
There will come a day when everyone will acknowledge
Jesus as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
ISAIAH 45:23 (KJV)
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my
mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That
unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall
swear.
PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11 (KJV)
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and
given him a name which is above every name: that at
the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things
in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the
earth; and that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father.
At the second coming of Jesus, He will come in
judgment.
JUDE
1:14-15 (KJV)
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of
these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten
thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon
all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them
of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly
committed, and of all their hard speeches which
ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
IV.
ABIGAIL IS A TYPE OF THE CHURCH
NOTE:
What is a vision?
A
vision is the ability to see the possibilities of
something that others are unable to see.
A
vision is a compelling idea that causes a person to
take unrealistic action to fulfill the vision.
A
person or Church of vision often stands alone.
Without a vision we have no true direction or
purpose, without courage to pursue our vision we are
only dreamers.
Abigail was a woman of vision and she possessed the
courage to seek the fulfillment of her vision.
A. ABIGAIL VISION OF WHOM AND WHAT NABAL WAS.
1
SAMUEL 25:25 (KJV)
Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of
Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he;
Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I
thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord,
whom thou didst send.
Abigail lived in a very difficult environment.
NOTE:
The
Church may dwell in this world but it does not
accept the practices of this world.
JOHN
17:16-17 (KJV)
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the
world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
B. SHE HAD A TRUE VISION OF DAVID AND WHO HE WAS.
1
SAMUEL 25:30 (KJV)
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have
done to my lord according to all the good that he
hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have
appointed thee ruler over Israel;
NOTE:
Abigail did not see David as an outlaw, as Nabal
did, but rather as the rightful King of Israel.
The Church sees Jesus as the Son of God not as the
world views Him.
C. ABIGAIL HAD A VISION OF DAVID COMING IN
JUDGMENT.
1
SAMUEL 25:26 (KJV)
Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as
thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden
thee from coming to shed blood, and from avenging
thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies,
and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
NOTE:
The Church sees Jesus coming again in judgment.
REVELATION 20:11-15 (KJV)
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on
it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled
away; and there was found no place for them. And I
saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and
the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life: and the dead were judged
out of those things which were written in the books,
according to their works. And the sea gave up the
dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered
up the dead which were in them: and they were judged
every man according to their works. And death and
hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the
second death. And whosoever was not found written
in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
D. ABIGAIL HAD THE COURAGE TO INTERCEDE.
1
SAMUEL 25:24 (KJV)
And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord,
upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine
handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and
hear the words of thine handmaid.
NOTE:
Abigail was not interceding for Nabal but rather for
all those who were innocent but would have suffered
the same judgment.
CONCLUSION:
The Church needs women and men who are visionaries
and who posses the courage to pursue the vision God
has given them.

“READY
OR NOT, YOU SHALL BE CAUGHT”
SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW
24:36-51
SCRIPTURE TEXT: MATTHEW 24:42 (KJV)
Watch therefore: for ye
know not what hour your Lord doth come.
INTRO: How
much thought have you given to eternity?
When we are young we look at life as something to
enjoy and we only consider the here and now.
As
we mature we begin to look a life a little more
seriously.
·
We
begin to consider our career.
·
We
get married and start a family.
·
We
buy a home.
Later in life we begin to look towards retirement.
We
spend a lot of time and energy thinking and planning
for these things, but how much time and energy do we
spend planning for eternity.
Eternity will begin in one of two ways:
1. At the Second Coming of Christ.
The
Second coming of Christ is a hot subject.
There are many views:
·
He
could come tonight.
·
There
are certain things that must be fulfilled before He
can come again.
·
He is
not coming back.
·
I
know when He is coming back, I know the year, the
month, the day and the hour.
The truth of the matter is that no one knows when He
is coming back so why spend so much time worrying
about it?
This is one of the ways the devil is trying to put
God’s people to sleep so that they fail to prepare
for His coming.
2. The second way eternity
will begin is a death.
NOTE:
Although we may not know when His
Second Coming is, there is one thing for certain, He
can come for us individually at anytime.
HEBREWS 9:27 (KJV)
And as it is appointed unto men once
to die, but after this the judgment:
We
must prepare our hearts for the time He calls us
home because one second after death eternity begins
forever.
I
wish to share three things we will face in
eternity.
I.
THE THINGS WE HAVE DONE IN SECRET.
“Man see what we do, God sees why we do it.”
ECCLESIASTES 12:14 (KJV)
For
God shall bring every work into judgment, with every
secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be
evil.
NOTE:
Most of the time when we consider
this verse we think of the bad being revealed, I
want to consider the good things we have done.
MATTHEW 6:1-4 (GW)
“Be careful not to do your good works in public
in order to attract attention. If you do, your
Father in heaven will not reward you. So when you
give to the poor, don't announce it with trumpet
fanfare. This is what hypocrites do in the
synagogues and on the streets in order to be praised
by people. I can guarantee this truth: That will be
their only reward. When you give to the poor,
don't let your left hand know what your right hand
is doing. Give your contributions privately. Your
Father sees what you do in private. He will reward
you.
It
is easy to become discourage as we seek to serve God
when we see the wicked prosper while we struggle.
PSALMS 73:1-3 (KJV)
Truly
God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a
clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost
gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was
envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of
the wicked.
JEREMIAH 31:16 (KJV)
Thus
saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and
thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be
rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again
from the land of the enemy.
This world is not our home and our reward is
awaiting us in eternity.
REVELATION 22:12 (NIV)
"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and
I will give to everyone according to what he has
done.”
II.
WE WILL BE REWARDED BY WHAT WE HAVE DONE WITH WHAT
WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN.
MATTHEW 25:14-30 (GW)
25:14-17, 19-23
“The kingdom of heaven is
like a man going on a trip. He called his servants
and entrusted some money to them. He gave one man
ten thousand dollars, another four thousand dollars,
and another two thousand dollars. Each was given
money based on his ability. Then the man went on his
trip. “The one who received ten thousand dollars
invested the money at once and doubled his money.
The one who had four thousand dollars did the same
and also doubled his money…“After a long time the
master of those servants returned and settled
accounts with them. The one who received ten
thousand dollars brought the additional ten
thousand. He said, ‘Sir, you gave me ten thousand
dollars. I've doubled the amount.'
“His master replied, ‘Good job! You're a good and
faithful servant! You proved that you could be
trusted with a small amount. I will put you in
charge of a large amount. Come and share your
master's happiness.' “The one who received four
thousand dollars came and said, ‘Sir, you gave me
four thousand dollars. I've doubled the amount.'
“His master replied, ‘Good job! You're a good and
faithful servant! You proved that you could be
trusted with a small amount. I will put you in
charge of a large amount. Come and share your
master's happiness.'
NOTE:
When we read this parable we often
stress the servant with one talent instead of
considering those who were given five and two
talents.
Notice: He gave according to the ability of each
person.
We
must trust God’s Love, Wisdom and Resources.
Whatever God gives us to do; He will also grant us
the strength, wisdom, ability and resources to
complete the task.
III.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE WILL BE TRIED BY FIRE.
1
CORINTHIANS 3:10-15 (NIV)
By the grace God has
given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder,
and someone else is building on it. But each one
should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay
any foundation other than the one already laid,
which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this
foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood,
hay or straw, his work will be
shown
for what it is, because the Day will bring it to
light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire
will test the quality of each man's work. If what he
has built survives, he will receive his reward. If
it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself
will be saved, but only as one escaping through the
flames.
NOTE:
All true Believers are building on
the same foundation but each of us is building
differently.
The material we use is dependant on the attitude and
purpose we are building.
ILL:
The carpenter building his last house.
HEBREWS 12:28-29 (KJV)
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be
moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our
God is a consuming fire.
CONCLUSION:
We do
not know when eternity will begin for us so we must
continue serving God the best we can until He calls
us home.
LUKE
19:13 (KJV)
And
he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten
pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
GALATIANS 6:7-10 (KJV)
Be
not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a
man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that
soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap
corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall
of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not
be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore
opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially
unto them who are of the household of faith.

“WHAT
JOGS YOUR MEMORY?
SCRIPTURE READING: ISAIAH
51:1-16
SCRIPTURE TEXT: ISAIAH 51:1 (KJV)
Hearken to me, ye that
follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD:
look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the
hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
INTRO:
Memory plays a very important part in our lives.
Positive memories can encourage,
instruct and give us hope for what lies ahead.
Negative memories will discourage
us until we lose all hope for the future.
What kind of memory do you have?
PHILIPPIANS 4:8 (KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever
things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are
pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things.
There are three things I would
like to encourage you to remember:
1.
Remember from where you
came.
2.
Remember who you are.
3.
Remember where you are
going.
I. REMEMBER FROM WHERE YOU CAME.
NOTE: We
can either use the memory of our past to give us
building stones to help us build, or we can use the
memory of the past to sink us into the mire of
regret and hopelessness.
A. WE NEED TO REMEMBER WHAT GOD
HAS SAVED US FROM.
NOTE: We
need to consider this in two ways;
1.
The sinful past He has
saved from.
2.
The sinful life He
saved us from being involved in.
B. WE NEED TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO
HAVE HELPED US IN OUR SPIRITUAL WALK.
NOTE: None
of us have achieved where we are spiritually without
help from others.
C. WE NEED TO REMEMBER PAST
BLESSINGS GOD HAS GIVEN US.
NOTE: It is
remembering the way God has met our needs in the
past that gives us the faith and courage to face the
difficulties of the future.
One of the greatest failure of
Israel was their forgetting how God had met their
needs when they were faced a new problem.
II. THE SECOND THING WE NEED TO
REMEMBER IS WHO WE ARE.
1 JOHN 3:1-3 (KJV)
Behold, what manner of love the
Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be
called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth
us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we
the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we
shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth
himself, even as he is pure.
NOTE: Too
often when we are facing times of difficulties and
failures we forget who we are and we revert back to
seeing ourselves as a failure.
A.
WE NEED TO REMEMBER WE
ARE A CHILD OF A LOVING FATHER WHO WILL FORGIVE US
OF OUR SINS.
1 JOHN 1:9 (KJV)
If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
B.
WE NEED TO REMEMBER WE
ARE A CHILD OF A LOVING FATHER WHO WILL SUPPLY ALL
OUR NEEDS.
PHILIPPIANS 4:19 (KJV)
But my God shall supply all
your need according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus.
C.
WE NEED TO REMEMBER WE
ARE A CHILD OF A LOVING FATHER WHO HAS ALL WISDOM
AND WILL DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US.
JOB 23:8-10 (KJV)
Behold, I go forward, but he is
not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:
on the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot
behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand,
that I cannot see him: but he knoweth the way that I
take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as
gold.
PSALMS 103:13-14 (NLT)
The LORD is like a father
to his children, tender and compassionate to those
who fear him. For he understands how weak we are; he
knows we are only dust.
1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 (KJV)
There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is common to man: but God is
faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to
bear it.
III. THE THIRD THING WE NEED TO
REMEMBER IS WHERE WE ARE GOING.
NOTE: We
must remember that the things in this life are
nothing to compare to what we will experience in
eternity with Jesus.
JOHN 14:1-3 (KJV)
Let not your heart be troubled: ye
believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's
house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would
have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And
if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,
there ye may be also.
REVELATION 21:1-7 (KJV)
And I saw a new heaven
and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first
earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming
down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride
adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice
out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God
is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they
shall be his people, and God himself shall be with
them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all
tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall
there be any more pain: for the former things are
passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said,
Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me,
Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he
said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the
beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is
athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I
will be his God, and he shall be my son.
REVELATION 22:1-5 (KJV)
And
he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as
crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of
the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on
either side of the river, was there the tree of
life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and
yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the
tree were for the healing of the nations. And there
shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of
the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall
serve him: and they shall see his face; and his name
shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no
night there; and they need no candle, neither light
of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and
they shall reign for ever and ever.
CONCLUSION:
Let our memory be filled with God and
all the things He had done for us, is doing for us
and will do for us.
Let us not forget.
