 ROOTED IN GOD’S LOVE

 SCRIPTURE READING: EPHESIANS 3:14-21

 SCRIPTURE TEXT: Ephesians 3:17 (NLT)

And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.

INTRO: How would you feel and act the first time you visited in the home of someone of great importance?

How would your actions change as you visited more often and you became friends?

How would your actions change when your host said, “Make yourself at home.  If you see anything you need, help yourself.”?

God wants us rooted so deep in His love that we will trust Him whatever comes our way and for whatever we need.

 I. DARK DAYS ARE COMING

NOTE: As we look towards the horizon of tomorrow we can see the black clouds gathering.

    A. SPIRITUAL EROSION.

NOTE: We began as a God fearing nation, we are no longer so.

Isaiah 5:20 (NLT) Destruction is certain for those who say that evil is good and good is evil; that dark is light and light is dark; that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

Our nation is becoming more and more spiritually corrupt.

 ·         Our nation approves the killing of unborn babies

·         Our nation is changing the definition of marriage

·         The Word of God is being removed from government buildings

·         The entertainment world becoming more and more ungodly.

    B. FINANCIAL RUIN

NOTE: More and more the ability and incentive to make and save money if being taking a way.

·         Taking from those who work to support those who don’t

·         Higher taxes to support government programs that are against God’s Word

·         Our retirement nest egg becoming smaller.

    C. WORLD UNREST

NOTE: There is violent unrest throughout the world.

·         The violence in our own country.

o    Movies

o    Video games

o    Violence in our streets and in our homes

·         The Middle East powder keg.

NOTE: Will we stand with Israel when it is attacked?

II. HOW WILL WE BE ABLE TO FACE THESE THINGS WHEN THEY COME?

   A. WE NEED THE INNER STRENGTH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Ephesians 3:16 (NLT) I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.

NOTE: There are two important points in this verse.

1.       God’s resources are unlimited

Philippians 4:19 (KJV) But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

2.       It is in His power we stand

Ephesians 6:10 (KJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

  B. WE MUST BE ROOTED DEEP IN THE LOVE OF GOD.

Ephesians 3:17 (NLT) And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.

NOTE: In order for us to have a deep rooted experience of God’s love we must have a close relationship with Him.

It is the root system of a tree that allows it to stand during a storm.

If we have trouble serving God now, what will happen when the hard times come?

Jeremiah 12:5 (KJV) If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

   C. WE NEED TO SEEK TO UNDERSTAND THE BOUNDLESSNESS OF GOD’S LOVE.

Ephesians 3:18-19a (NLT) And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it...

NOTE: Just because we cannot understand the fullness of God’s love doesn’t mean we should seek to understand more.

   D. IT IS BY UNDERSTANDING GOD’S LOVE THAT WE WILL HAVE THE STRENGTH TO BE  VICTORIOUS IN THE DARK DAYS AHEAD.

Ephesians 3:19 (NLT) Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

NOTE: The more we understand the Love of God the stronger our root system will be.

Luke 6:48 (KJV) He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

CONCLUSION: Remember when the dark days may come, there is nothing that can overcome the Love that God has for us.

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.

Romans 8:37-39 (NLT) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.  Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 THE STAYING POWER OF GOD

SCRIPTURE READING: ISAIAH 40:25-31

 SCRIPTURE TEXT: Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

INTRO: Living the Christian life can sometimes become very difficult and discouraging.

Ø  When we see the success of the ungodly

Psalm 73:2-3, 12 (NLT) But as for me, I came so close to the edge of the cliff! My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. Look at these arrogant people—            enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.

 Ø  When injustice triumphs

Ecclesiastes 7:15 (GW) I have seen it all in my pointless life:        Righteous people die in spite of being righteous.  Wicked people go on living in spite of being wicked.

Ø  When our world falls apart

Psalm 142:4 (NLT) I look for someone to come and help me,            but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.

It is during these times we often question God.

Psalm 13:1-2 (NLT) O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand?

God would ask us this question.

Luke 24:38 (NLT) "Why are you frightened?" he asked. "Why do you doubt who I am?

NOTE: God encourages us to remain faithful and keep trusting Him in spite of what is happening around us.

Romans 2:7 (NLT) He will give eternal life to those who persist in doing what is good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

Galatians 6:9 (NLT) So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

1 Peter 4:19 (NLT) So if you are suffering according to God's will, keep on doing what is right, and trust yourself to the God who made you, for he will never fail you.

NOTE: We can rest in God’s promise that He sees us and what we are going through and He will give us the strength to become victorious.

Isaiah 40:27 (NLT) O Israel, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? How can you say God refuses to hear your case?

Zechariah 4:10 (NLT) Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand. For these seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world."

Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

 I. WE ARE ABLE TO STAND IN THE STAYING POWER OF GOD

NOTE: Our human strength will fail, but God’s strength will not.

ILL: The Buzzard, Bat & Bumblebee

Isaiah 40:30 (NLT) Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up.

Psalm 78:39 (NLT) For he remembered that they were merely mortal, gone in a moment like a breath of wind, never to return.

Psalm 103:14 (NLT) For he understands how weak we are; he knows we are only dust.

NOTE: God reveals why we should put our trust in Him above all others.

Isaiah 40:25 (NLT) "To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?" asks the Holy One.

    A. THE GODS AND THINGS OF THIS WORLD HAVE NO POWER TO DELIVER.

Isaiah 40:18-20 (NLT) To whom, then, can we compare God? What image might we find to resemble him?  Can he be compared to an idol formed in a mold, overlaid with gold, and decorated with silver chains?  Or is a poor person's wooden idol better? Can God be compared to an idol that must be placed on a stand so it won't fall down?

    B. THEY ARE NO COMPAISON TO GOD.

Exodus 15:11 (NLT) "Who else among the gods is like you, O Lord? Who is glorious in holiness like you so awesome in splendor, performing such wonders?

Deut. 33:26-27 (NLT) "There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor.  The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He thrusts out the enemy before you; it is he who cries, 'Destroy them!'

1 Kings 8:23 (NLT) He prayed, "O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven or earth. You keep your promises and show unfailing love to all who obey you and are eager to do your will.

Psalm 89:6 (NLT) For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord?

    C. GOD HAS ABSOLUTE POWER TO DELIVER, CREATE, AND STRENGTHEN

Ø  God has the power to deliver

Isaiah 40:21-24 (NLT) Have you never heard or understood? Are you deaf to the words of God—the words he gave before the world began? Are you so ignorant?  It is God who sits above the circle of the earth. The people below must seem to him like grasshoppers! He is the one who spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them. He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing. They hardly get started, barely taking root, when he blows on them and their work withers. The wind carries them off like straw.

Ø  God has the power to create

Isaiah 40:26 (NLT) Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out one after another, calling each by its name. And he counts them to see that none are lost or have strayed away.

Isaiah 40:28 (NLT) Have you never heard or understood? Don't you know that the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

Ø  God has the power to strengthen

Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT) He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak.  Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

CONCLUSION: As we face more difficult times, let us not become discouraged but let us put our trust in the staying power of God.

HAVING AN INTERVIEW WITH JESUS

SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 3:21

 SCRIPTURE TEXT: John 3:3 (KJV)

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

INTRO: If you could sit down with Jesus, what would you like to talk to Him about?

What do you think He would to talk to you about?

 I. JESUS’ NIGHT TIME VISITOR.

NOTE: There are three questions we have about Nicodemus:

    A. WHO IS THIS NICODEMUS

John 3:1-2 (NLT) After dark one evening, a Jewish religious leader named Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to speak with Jesus. "Teacher," he said, "we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are proof enough that God is with you."

Ø  He was a religious man, a Pharisee.

Ø  He was a member of the Sanhedrin the ruling religious body.

    B. WHAT WAS HIS PURPOSE FOR COMING TO JESUS

NOTE: Nicodemus came seeking Jesus, are we seeking Jesus?

Ø  He wanted to know more about Jesus

Ø  He believe that Jesus was sent by God but there was much he didn’t understand

    C. WHY DID HE COME AT NIGHT

NOTE: Nicodemus is mentioned three times in the Bible and each time he is referred to as the man who came by night to see Jesus.

John 3:2 (KJV) The same came to Jesus by night…

John 7:50 (KJV) Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

John 19:39 (KJV) And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night…

NOTE: The question is asked, “Why did Nicodemus come to Jesus at night”?

Ø  Was he ashamed to been seen with Jesus

Ø  Was he afraid of what his fellow Pharisee would say

Ø  Was this the best time for him to have a one on one conversation with Jesus

 II. JESUS RESPONSE

NOTE: We have no idea what Nicodemus wanted to take to Jesus about, but we know what Jesus wanted to say to Nicodemus.

    A. YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN TO UNDERSTAND THE  THINGS OF GOD.

John 3:3 (KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

NOTE: The word see means to know :- be aware, behold, × consider, (have) know (-ledge), perceive, understand,

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NLT) But people who aren't Christians can't understand these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them because only those who have the Spirit can understand what the Spirit means.

    B. MUST BE BORN AGAIN TO ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD

John 3:5 (KJV) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

NOTE: We may come to Jesus for one thing, but Jesus knows what we really need.

Nicodemus was a religious man but he did not understand spiritual truths.

John 3:4 (KJV) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

John 3:9-10 (KJV) Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

We all can be very religious without being a Christian.

We all are born of natural birth (born of water) but we need to be born again (born of the spirit)

John 3:5-8 (NLT) Jesus replied, "The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.  Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven.  So don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again.  Just as you can hear the wind but can't tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can't explain how people are born of the Spirit."

    C. THE SECRET OF BEING BORN AGAIN

NOTE: The secret of being born again is the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and His atoning work at Calvary cleanses us from sin.

John 3:14-17 (KJV) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Those who believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior are born of the Spirit, Born Again.

NOTE: The rejection of Jesus brings judgment, darkness and eternal death.

John 3:18-20 (NLT) "There is no judgment awaiting those who trust him. But those who do not trust him have already been judged for not believing in the only Son of God.  Their judgment is based on this fact: The light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.  They hate the light because they want to sin in the darkness. They stay away from the light for fear their sins will be exposed and they will be punished.

III. NICODEMUS PROGRESSIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.

    A. HE CAME TO JESUS WITH AN INQUIRING MIND

John 3:1-2 (NLT) After dark one evening, a Jewish religious leader named Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to speak with Jesus. "Teacher," he said, "we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are proof enough that God is with you."

Ø  He acknowledged Jesus as being sent by God

Ø  He heard about being Born Again.

   B. HE QUESIONED THE ACTIONS OF HIS FELLOW RELIGIOUS LEADERS.

John 7:47-51 (KJV) Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

    C. HE MADE HIS DEVOTION TO JESUS PUBLIC

John 19:39-40 (KJV) And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.  Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

CONCLUSION: Let us be as Nicodemus and make our devotion to Jesus public knowledge.

John 3:21 (NLT) But those who do what is right come to the light gladly, so everyone can see that they are doing what God wants."

 THE HOPE OF HIS COMING

 SCRIPTURE READING: ISAIAH 9:1-7

 SCRIPTURE TEXT: Titus 2:13 (KJV)

     Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

INTRO: Proverbs 13:12 (GW) Delayed hope makes one sick at heart, but a fulfilled longing is a tree of life.

Have you put your hope in a promise from someone, only never to see that promise fulfilled?

Are you still hoping that someday that promise will be fulfilled?

I. THE HOPE OF HIS COMING.

After the sin of Adam and Eve, God promised a Redeemer, but His promise was not immediately fulfilled.

Genesis 3:15 (KJV) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Down through the century’s God renewed His promise of a Redeemer.

    A. HE PROMISED ABRAHAM THAT THE REDEEMER WOULD COME FOR HIS SEED.

Genesis 12:3 (KJV) And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Abraham waiting 25 years before Isaac was born.

In the meantime Abraham was inpatient and fathered Ismael who was to become the father of the Arabs.

    B. GOD PROMIED THE REDEEMER WOULD COME THOUGH  THE TRIBE OF JUDAH.

Genesis 49:10 (NLT) The scepter will not depart from Judah,  nor the ruler's staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will obey.

NOTE: God had narrowed it down from the human race to the tribe of Judah.

    C. MOSES WARNS THE PEOPLE THEY MUST LISTEN TO THE ONE GOD SENDS.

Deuteronomy 18:15 (NLT) "The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites, and you must listen to that prophet.

NOTE: Moses is the Father of the Law, Jesus is the Father of Grace.

    D. MICAH SAID HE WOULD BE BORN IN BETHLEHEM

Micah 5:2 (KJV) But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

    E. HE WOULD BE BORN OF A VIRGIN

Isaiah 7:14 (NLT) All right then, the Lord himself will choose the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel—'God is with us.'

II. THE PURPOSE OF HIS COMING

    A. TO RESTORE FALLEN MAN TO FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

Matthew 1:20-22 (KJV) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

   B. TO TAKE ON HUMAN FORM AND NATURE.

Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV)  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

   C. TO BRING THE MESSAGE OF REDEMPTION TO FALLEN MAN

Isaiah 61:1-3 (KJV) The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;  to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;  to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

   D. TO BRING PEACE TO THE WORLD

Daniel 2:34, 44 (NLT) But as you watched, a rock was cut from a mountain by supernatural means. It struck the feet of iron and clay, smashing them to bits.  "During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed; no one will ever conquer it. It will shatter all these kingdoms into nothingness, but it will stand forever.

III. THE RESULTS OF HIS COMING

NOTE: The hope of His coming had faded in the hearts of many of the people until they failed to recognize the fulfillment of God’s promise

Isaiah 53:5-6 (KJV) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.     Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

NOTE: Even through the unbelief of the people, God promise of hope was fulfilled.

IV. THE HOPE OF HIS COMING

Titus 2:13 (KJV) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

NOTE: The story is not over yet.

Acts 1:9-11 (KJV) And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

CONCLUSION: Let us not lose hope because of the length of time that has passed.

2 Peter 3:3-4 (NLT) First, I want to remind you that in the last days there will be scoffers who will laugh at the truth and do every evil thing they desire. This will be their argument: "Jesus promised to come back, did he? Then where is he? Why, as far back as anyone can remember, everything has remained exactly the same since the world was first created."

A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH

 SCRIPTURE READING: REVELATION 21:1-8

 SCRIPTURE TEXT: Revelation 21:1 (KJV)

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

INTRO: We live in a world that has been marred by sin, but it wasn’t always so.

Genesis 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

NOTE: When God created the heavens and earth it was a perfect creation.

 I. SATAN AND SIN CORRUPTED THE PERFECT CREATION.

Sin was found in the heart of Lucifer, the High Arc Angel.

Ezekiel 28:12-17 (NLT) "Son of man, weep for the king of Tyre. Give him this message from the Sovereign Lord: You were the perfection of wisdom and beauty.  You were in Eden, the garden of God. Your clothing was adorned with every precious stone—red carnelian, chrysolite, white moonstone, beryl, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald—all beautifully crafted for you and set in the finest gold. They were given to you on the day you were created.  I ordained and anointed you as the mighty angelic guardian. You had access to the holy mountain of God and walked among the stones of fire.

"You were blameless in all you did from the day you were created until the day evil was found in you.  Your great wealth filled you with violence, and you sinned. So I banished you from the mountain of God. I expelled you, O mighty guardian, from your place among the stones of fire.  Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty. You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth and exposed you to the curious gaze of kings.

Isaiah 14:12-15 (KJV) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

NOTE: When sin entered into the heart of man, Satan became the ruler of this earthly world.

John 12:31 (NLT) The time of judgment for the world has come, when the prince of this world will be cast out.

Ephesians 2:2 (NLT) You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

NOTE: Today our world is ruled by Satan & sin, that is why there is so much pain and suffering.

There is coming a day when Satan, his entire host, and all the sins that he has caused will be forever ended.

Revelation 20:10-15 (KJV) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

NOTE: As the absence of God bring sin, pain and suffering, so the absence of Satan will bring joy, peace and love.

II. GOD WILL CREATE A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH.

Revelation 21:1 (KJV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

 A.     THE PHYSICAL HEAVEN.

Revelation 21:2 (NLT) And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a beautiful bride prepared for her husband.

NOTE: Many people are caught up with the physical aspects of heaven.

·         The streets of gold

·         The gates of pearl

·         The sea of glass

·         The dwelling places

B.      THE SPIRITUAL ASPECTS OF HEAVEN

·         We will dwell in the presence of God

Revelation 21:3 (NLT) I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, "Look, the home of God is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.

·         We will be free from the products of sin.

Revelation 21:4 (KJV) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

·         All things will be new

Revelation 21:5 (KJV) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

NOTE: If all things are new there will be no past, no memories of past sins, heart aches, pain and suffering.

·         We will enjoy God’s blessing forever.

Revelation 21:6-7 (KJV) And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

·         There will be neither sin nor sinners in the new heaven and earth.

Revelation 21:8 (NLT) But cowards who turn away from me, and unbelievers, and the corrupt, and murderers, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars—their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death."

III. THE KEY TO ENTERING INTO THE NEW HEAVEN & EARTH.

John 3:5-7 (KJV) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

NOTE: To escape the second death we must be twice.

To be born again we must confess our sins unto God and accept His atoning work at Calvary.

1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
